Over the last month I’ve been working on a new personal project called Skew Your Mind.
Site Goal: (To Create) A place to discuss my feelings on society, technology, art theory, and more with plenty of room for viewer debate and discussion.
Today I’d like to thank Scott Dikkers for the last push I needed to finally decide once and for all to begin work on a SharpShark sister site, and no it will not be called SSSS.
While playing on stumbleupon I came across a fun article titled “Brings us Back to Reality” by Scott, the editor of The Onion, more-or-less ranting on the subject of religious minorities and religion as a whole in relation to society. Believe it or not the article was well written and a good read for some perspective and during the read it had pushed me to want to pursue the new sister site.
Its articles like these I’d like to write for my own pleasure. Being able to talk and argue with someone is one thing; however, arguing with the internet is a whole new battlefield that I’d enjoy fighting in. The battle across the internet is a never ending one but that’s where the beauty in it lies. Perspectives are tasty.
The new sister site will be separate yet connected to this website. SharpShark’s Shack will focus on projects of mine for fun and portfolio purposes. While the new site, which needs to be named, will contain my outbursts of opinion on many topics relating to society and technology. It’ll be a new experience, teach me a bit of web design for consumer consumption, give me some new viewpoints from commenters, educate me in creative writing, and tell everyone who I really am on the inside.
Another small but rather signifigant addition to the site is my almost-daily updates on twitter being added to the home page! This should combine the important but slow blog posts with the less important but rapid firing Twitter posts. Of course, my Twitter is connected with Facebook! So now it’s a love triangle of posting consistency.
New favicon, new logo, new identity. Fun fun! I needed to create a logo for my graphic design class, and I figured it’d be a great project to replace my SSS original logo. The current problem is where to put it on my blog right now…for now, temporarily it is where it is, in the header.
Upon closer observation I have noticed that this blog doesn’t work well in helvetica, which of course is my fault rather than the font’s. Since I’ve never had the pleasure of using an Apple I had to acquire Helvetica on the PC, which brings me to my next point: My first ever thing typed in Helvetica.
Whala!
I’m quite proud of these photos. I took these two at a park near my home in Maryland, or actually I should say “I took these seven”. The first image is made up of five combined photographs used at differen’t Depth of Fields, and the same goes for the second image which uses two merged photos. See these photos in high quality in the art section.
EN – Vexel 2 Should be coming within the next week, hopefully.
